Cardiac conditions

Cardiac disease is the term used to describe any abnormality of the heart. Cardiac disease, like in humans, can be present from birth (congenital) or can develop throughout the lifetime of the animal. Cardiac disease can be further classified in a number of ways such as, the cause of the disease, the clinical signs, the structural defect or by the duration of the condition. Cardiac failure is defined as any heart abnormality that results in the failure of the heart to pump enough blood to maintain normal bodily functions. Heart failure occurs secondary to cardiac disease. Many cardiac conditions can be managed with medication and an appropriate lifestyle.
