Haematology
Haematology is the study of the cells of the blood; this includes red blood cells (RBC), white blood cells (WBC) and platelets. Haematology blood tests assess the numbers of each cell type, while also evaluating the shape of the cells. a reduction in the number of RBC’s could mean the animal is anaemic. An increase in WBC’s could indicate an infection. Haematological blood results may guide the vets in the diagnosis and continuing treatment of a disease.
